Just got back from 2 week family holiday in North Devon – weather not great – but still had a good time. Also managed to meet up with Adam and get a bit of yak fishing done (how did those kayaks and rods get on the roof ).
Managed to launch from Coombe Martin, Barricane and Putsborough – mostly caught mackerel and gurnard (sorry, no progies or triggers ).
Barricane is a dream venue, well worth the long trolley trip from the car park…

There is a tiny shack at the top of the beach which does amazing food – Thai chef who cuts and cooks in front of you on a small gas burner- great after a hard day’s fishing…

Barricane provides a sheltered launch at high water and alows access to a stunning stretch of coastline…

Inlcuding access to your own infinity rockpool…

Managed a few trips with Connor…

We caught every time we went out…

Great to see lots of small fry in the water (Snapper take note !)…

I even managed to get my better half out in the yak briefly (Her classic quote “I’m not sure where this kayak is taking me”… I think we all know the answer to that one )…

I also wanted to try out a new rod – a very sporty 6 foot number from Greys – it had an amazing soft tip, but still alot of grunt, as we proved using a small fixed spool reel loaded with braid and floating bread (great fun)…

We caught countless carp using stalking tactics – and there were a real assortment of colours – perhaps Axor/Lureman can confirm if this is usual ?

Anyhow, a good time was had by all and the mackerel tasted great on the barbie…
